DeFEO, Shirley (Smith), age 93, of Westwood MA died peacefully on March 11, 2021. She was born on November 3, 1927 in Medford, MA to A. Dudley and Doris (Hurlburt) Smith.
She was raised in Lexington, MA. After graduating from Lexington High School, she graduated from Chandler Secretarial School in Boston. She worked as a legal secretary in Dedham then worked at Record Data in Dedham and Westwood. Her favorite job was her part time job for 21 years at the Westwood Public Library till she retired in Feb. 2020.

She was a longtime resident of Westwood. She is fondly remembered for her strong independence. She always wanted to find new places, throughout New England, to visit. She spent many vacations on Cape Cod with family and loved the beach. She was always found in her yard gardening and talking with neighbors and friends. She was a member of First Parish Church for 60 years and volunteered many hours on several committees. She was an avid reader.

Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Susan Bourdon and husband Kevin of Waltham, VT and Cynthia Dowling, and husband Mark of North Attleborough, MA; six grandchildren, Christopher, and wife Miranda. Rampone; Mark Bourdon; Scott Bourdon; Alison, and husband Luke Russett; Harrison Dowling; and Jennifer Dowling; one great grandchild, Genevieve Rampone.

There will be no Visiting Hours and Burial will be private. A Memorial Service in celebration of Shirley's life will be held in late Spring and will be announced. Funeral arrangements are provided by the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, Westwood.
