Gonzalez, Celestino of Westwood, formerly of Boston and born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, died August 5, 2017. Beloved husband of Ines (Nieto) Gonzalez of 50 years. Devoted and loving father of Luis Gonzalez and his wife Maria of Burlington, Pedro Gonzalez and his wife Gladys of Norwood, Carmen Lennon and her husband James of Westwood, Flor and her husband Carlos of Boston. Devoted grandfather of 9 loving grandchildren Mary, Elizabeth, Fabian, Pedro, Elisa, Celina, Sofia, Andrea, and Alejandra. Brother of Flora Gonzalez of Boston and Jovita Rivera of Seffner, FL and the late Juan, Sotero, Maria, Catalina, and Luz Maria. Loving Uncle of many adoring nieces and nephews. Affectionately nicknamed "Don Tino," in the late 60's through early 80's, he was one of the South End's earliest innovators and entrepreneurs. A staple in the South End and Villa Victoria for thousands of his amazing customers who traveled from all over Boston and beyond every summer to the corner of Tremont and West Brookline Streets where he sold his delicious homemade piraguas. Later recognized and invited by Eastern Airlines in 1975 as "El Piraguero," he was honored to represent his Puerto Rican heritage and love for Boston at the Hynes Convention Center. He was an ardent and devoted Red Sox fan. Celestino died peacefully, surrounded by his many family and friends in his home on August 5, 2017, at age 92. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., WESTWOOD on Wednesday August 9th from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning Aug. 10th at 10am in St. Margaret Mary Church, 845 High St. Westwood. Interment at New Westwood Cemetery.
