Barbara A. MacKinnon (Donoghue) Age 87, of Westwood, passed away on June 1st, 2021. Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Timothy B. and Mary L. (Madden) Donoghue, and wife of the late Neil L. MacKinnon.

Barbara would always light up when she retold the story of how she met Neil, the love of her life and beloved partner of over 42 years, at that famous dance in Dorchester. Barbara enjoyed traveling and playing bridge with Neil and their close-knit group of Norwood friends.

Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love as the devoted mother of David MacKinnon and his wife Sandra Lish of Walpole, Gregory MacKinnon and his wife Susan of Foxboro, Andrew MacKinnon and his wife Yasuko of Sudbury, Amy MacKinnon of Burke, VA, and Bruce MacKinnon and his wife Jane of Belmont. Devoted grandmother and purveyor of squeezy hugs for Jack, Lila, Connor, Rachel, Garrett, Lauren, Jimmy, Michael, Sachi, Meredith, Patrick, and Tommy. Sister of Marguerite Gilfoil of South Portland, ME and Larry Donoghue of San Antonio, TX and the late Timothy Donoghue and Mary Manley.

Barbara was a graduate of Girls' Latin School class of 1951 and Emmanuel College class of 1955. Upon graduation Barbara taught at the Academy Avenue Primary School in Weymouth. After taking time off to raise her 5 precious children, she went back to work as an area manager for Boston Distributors. In her later years Barbara enjoyed volunteering at Norwood Hospital and spending time with her grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours in the Holden, Dunn, Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood on Sunday, June 6 from 3 to 6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning, June 7 at St. Timothy's Church, Norwood at 10:30am. Interment at the National Cemetery in Bourne will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in Barbara's memory to Hebrew Senior Life

Barbara's family wishes to extend their sincere and heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Avita Wayland, NewBridge on the Charles in Dedham, and HouseWorks that provided such compassionate care to Barbara towards the end of her journey.
