Condolence & Memory Journal

Dear Ellen,
I want to express my condolences to you and your family upon Richard's passing. He was always a friendly presence to me when I worked in the Westwood Town Hall. It was a bit of a jolt to see his notice in the newspaper. I recognized his photo before I saw the name. Marie and I wish you and your family well.

Sad day...I am very sorry and saddened to hear of Richie’s passing. Richie was the perfect example of what someone would interpret what a good cop should be, smart, compassionate and caring. Richie was loved and highly respected within the Dept. He always went out of his way to help someone. I will always miss working with him. There should be a memorial statue of him put up as he deserved it. RIP my friend and my condolences to Ellen and family...

I was one of 3 Medfield Selectmen to appoint Dick to the position of chief of the Medfield Police Department. I liked Dick very much as a person and as chief and think he did a great job serving in that capacity. I am both stunned and saddened to learn of his passing. Please accept my very sincere c ondolences.

Dear Ellen and family, I am so saddened to hear of Chief Hurley's passing. It was an honor and a pleasure to work with and for him for all those years. He was a class act and led us with honor and dignity. Unfortunately I will be away and unable to attend his services but you are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless. I learned so much from him in my Police career and that will always stay with me. Rest In Peace Chief, and thanks so much for the memories.

Mrs Hurley and family
Chief Hurley was my idol. I was one of the first members of the Police Explorer Post in Westwood. It is because of Chief Hurley that I made law enforcement a career, and a career I love as much as he did. He was an amazing man, and I will keep him and his entire family in my thoughts and prayers.
