Barbara (or Nana as we all called her) was not just my child care provider but was an additional grandma to my son, Thomas. She spoke up for him when he got on the wrong side of the school bus driver and she made her delicious meatballs especially for him. But the most generous act that I remember is when she invited him to stay over at her house (at no charge) during the time we would be in Chicago after my mother unexpectedly passed away. What better definition of a Grandma than one who sacrifices her time and energy on the behalf of her grandchild. Anyone who was fortunate enough to have "Nana" watching over them or their child received a special gift of getting to know this loving, generous woman whose heart was big enough to encompass family, friends, animals, and children and their parents. Ciao, dear Nana.
